Download: Xiaomi rolls out stable Android 11 updates with MIUI 12 for the Mi 10 and the Redmi K30 5G

Looks like the time is ripe for the Android 11 official update story to gain some momentum, at least from Xiaomi’s perspective. Apart from the Google Pixel lineup, official Android 11 updates by device makers have been few and far between, mostly dealing with Chinese OEMs like OnePlus and OPPO. Xiaomi, on the other hand, has already been operating a limited Android 11-based MIUI 12 pilot program since September for a handful of Mi/Redmi smartphones. Now, the wait is finally over for the owners of the Mi 10 and the Redmi K30 5G, as both devices are finally receiving their official Android 11 updates with MIUI 12.

Mi 10

While the Chinese variant of the Mi 10 is no stranger to Android 11, the global model has oddly lacked behind. Xiaomi did deliver a build (V12.1.2.0.RJBMIXM) based on Android 11 for the global Mi 10 through the stable channel of MIUI back in September, but the OTA was meant for the closed group of early adopters. However, the current release (build number V12.2.1.0.RJBMIXM) is comparatively a broad-scale rollout. The update has a download size of 2.8GB, and it carries the October 2020 security patches.

Redmi K30 5G

Alongside the Mi 10, the Redmi K30 5G is also receiving its stable Android 11 update, coming in the form of software version V12.1.1.0.RGICNXM. Unlike its 4G sibling (globally known as the POCO X2), the 5G-capable Redmi K30 has remained exclusive to China so far.

Keep in mind that the company still treats these updates as “stable beta”. For those not familiar with Xiaomi’s update policy, it means an authorized Mi Account might be required to sideload the ZIP file. Once Xiaomi marks it to be stable enough, they are going to flip a server-side switch that will eventually remove the need for such authorization before flashing. Alternatively, they could also release new builds with additional bug fixes.
